A place for everything and everything in it’s place

photo-9This is a quote that I really love and can be used in every area of your home. If everything you own has a home and is in it’s place, you will always know where everything is and it will make your life easier. Here are my 3 top tips for organising your living space this spring..

Living area tip 1: Declutter

Too much stuff? Have a good look around your living space. Do you really need all of those magazines? How about the dvd’s and cd’s? Books?  Have items built up over time?photo-5 Or maybe even just over the winter months. Start with a good declutter in your living area and see what items you are no longer using and could donate, recycle or sell. Pop over to my blog on “10 Questions to ask yourself when you declutter” here.

Living area tip 2: Do items have a home?

Or are they cluttered and disorganised? Once you have decluttered your living area, photo-8organise your items and find homes for them. This will include: remotes, magazines, books, toys, dvd’s, cd’s. You may need to acquire new storage or work with the storage you have. Work around your natural flow and remember that functionality is key.

Living area tip no 3: Space layout

How is this area really working for you? How could it work better? Are there too many pieces of furniture in the space? Have a think about your living area and move things around if they feel like they are not functioning as well as they could be. Even if the area is working well for you, having a change around and a re-style can give your living area a fresh feel and a new look for the season ahead.

Get creative with it and have fun 🙂
